From Greenland to the Bering Strait, the Under the Pole team carries on its polar explorations. After being the first to film the depths of the North Pole, and after breaking depth records in Arctic waters to identify little-known fauna, they are now embarking on the mythical Northwest Passage aboard the Why.
The crew dives into never-before-seen depths (up to -150 meters) into the “twilight zone” to find the first biofluorescent Arctic species. For them, the Northwest Passage is still a way to question the myth it represents and the evolution of the polar world. A symbol of climate change, this passage is dangerous and uncertain – only 20 or so boats cross it in the mildest summers…
From Uummannaq, Greenland - where they fine-tune their dives while waiting for the right window with their Inuit friends - to Shishmaref, Alaska - the village that disappears beneath the waters of the Bering Strait - our team explores an extraordinary maritime route.
