Children of the Shoah

During WWII, facing the advancing troops of the Third Reich and their racial laws, many Jewish parents desperately tried to save their children from certain death. At the time, dedicated organizations and individuals worked to rescue these children from the camps and save them from deportation. Some of these kids found refuge in a small village, that became known as the Izieu “colony”.

But on April 6th, 1944, 44 of them - between 4 and 16 years old - were arrested in Izieu by the Gestapo, under the authority of Klaus Barbie. None of them came back.

Calling on renowned historians and specialists, this documentary film retraces the tragic story of these children. Paul, Alexandre and Serge, three witnesses who escaped from the raid, tell us this tragedy.
