Flowing through natural landscapes and towns in central France, the Allier is a river of rare vitality. In its meanders, an abundance of life has developed: cranes, beavers, otters, salmon, storks… Migratory or sedentary, predator or prey, newcomer or endemic species, the animals and plants that live here are essential links in a unique ecosystem.
But although local residents are keen to preserve this natural heritage, the Allier’s balance is proving to be fragile, disrupted by human activity. Today, this wild river - one of the last in Europe - is constantly evolving to resist the acceleration of climate change.
Embark on a marvelous journey through the currents and seasons, to discover the treasures of a river that has never finished writing its history.
