Ten shark attacks and five dead. For the past three years, the island of La Réunion in the Indian Ocean has been facing a serious problem that is affecting tourism and dividing the population. The beaches are emptying, along with the coffers of local businesses, as panic gradually spreads across the isle. But why are the sharks coming so close to the shoreline? What is happening in this small area where the attacks are concentrated?
The journalist Laurent Bouvier investigates, talking to survivors and witnesses of attacks and taking us out with a scientific team that is also trying to understand the phenomenon by placing acoustic beacons on sharks out at sea, a high-risk operation. For the first time, answers are starting to emerge.
