Destination Pluto: Beyond the Flyby

Recently, NASA and the New Horizons team reached the dramatic highpoint of an epic, nine-year journey to the last, unexplored planet in our solar system: Pluto. An unprecedented flight faced with controversy and immense technological challenges. The New Horizons spacecraft crossed nearly 3 billion miles, past Jupiter and the orbits of Saturn and Neptune, into the far flung realm of the Kuiper Belt.  The mission was a breathtaking success, an extraordinary capstone that marks the historic completion of mankind’s first reconnaissance of our solar system.

Join the New Horizons team to examine the latest findings and imagery from Pluto and the fringes of our solar system. Coverage before and after the flyby brings to light the raging storm over Pluto’s status as a planet and the inherent peril of exploring uncharted space.  It relives some of the most suspenseful moments in the mission, joining the principal scientists as they gasp in astonishment at the mysterious new planet revealed before them.

An unprecedented mission revealing a world unlike any other we’ve seen yet.
