Once found all throughout China, Asian elephants now find refuge in the lush tropical forest of Xishuangbanna, in the southwestern province of Yunnan. In recent years, their population has increased – around 250 of them are living in the wild, in this treasure trove of biodiversity. This growth is forcing some pachyderms to leave their homelands in search of new resources.
We’re off to the heart of the “wild elephant valley” to meet a family led by a matriarch who must ensure the safety of her clan. To survive, the herd embarks on an incredible journey beyond the Xishuangbanna reserve, venturing into human territory…
Immersed in the sumptuous landscapes of Yunnan, we follow the adventures of this endearing family of giants and observe the behaviors they adopt to ensure their survival, and to maintain the balance of an exceptional biodiversity.
