Bordering Russia, the Arctic Ocean and Canada, Alaska is a vast, isolated and sparsely populated territory that shares no borders with the USA, of which it is the largest state. It is land of majestic wildlife, but also the land of 100,000 glaciers – covering 5% of its territory.
For thousands of years, these glaciers have shaped Alaska's landscapes and contributed to the balance of its ecosystem. Attracting large numbers of tourists every year, they also contribute to the local economy. But today, the glaciers are dangerously threatened by the effects of global warming, and their melting is accelerating day by day.
A visual journey to the heart of Alaska, this documentary follows in the footsteps of imposing glaciers, snowy mountains and exceptional wildlife. Through the insights of experts and naturalists, it also explores the efforts being made to protect a powerful yet vulnerable nature.
