Zanskar: a winter of happiness
52'
Nestled 3,500 meters high in the ancient Himalayan kingdom, India’s Zanskar valley has stayed isolated for centuries. But at the end of a perilous and icy road, a beautiful village opens its doors, home to a community of nuns whose joy and generosity contrast with the hardness of their land. 15 years after her first journey there, director Caroline Riegel returns to visit them, and shares their daily life over the course of a winter. She captures a moving testimony of a unique place where time seems to stand still.
