Back in the 1970s, Cinema Aryub used to be Kabul's most fashionable theatre, attracting hordes of moviegoers. Times of freedom - swept away by 30 years of brutal violence, civil war, and Taliban rule... Amidst the ruins, Cinema Aryub miraculously survived, thanks to Naser, its aging projectionist. A group of young artists decide to help him and revive the magic of the Afghan cinema industry by shooting a film using the theatre as the main location. But things don't go according to plan as the team is threatened by gunmen, they almost died in a fire, and they escape a bombing...
Kabul Cinema is a sad yet realistic account of the situation in Afghanistan. It is the making-of feature film Kabullywood.
