JAPANIMATION, 100 YEARS OF MASTERY

For 50 years, characters from the most popular Japanese anime TV series and films have literally taken over the world. Displayed everywhere from our clothes to our tattoos, wallpapers and smartphone cases, San Goku, Luffy, Naruto or Totoro are beloved by the most hardcore fans as well as young and fresh newcomers.

But even though Japanimation is definitely part of our pop-culture, for many it still remains misunderstood, and fans aren’t necessarily aware of its origin, and the craft that goes behind making such IPs.

To cover the History of Japanese animation industry, its impact and its evolution through the years, we imagined a series that will take us over 3 continents and meet the very best contributors in the industry: studio Execs, producers, directors, artists, mangaka, writers, journalists and experts - Rintaro, Masao Maruyama, Manabu Otsuka, Woodkid, Naoko Yamada, Inoxtag, Thierry Fremaux...- will help us better understand the key milestones, pillars and rules, that shaped Japanese animation.
