This film is a portrait of two passionate ice caves pioneers, explorer-glacionaut Serge Aviotte, and the scientist-glaciologist Luc Moreau. Luc’s grail is to observe in depth, Serge’s grail, to go deeper and deeper...
Serge Aviotte, glacionaut, explorer, and caver has many expeditions to his name, from the French Alps to the glaciers of the two poles. He tells us about his obsession to descend ever deeper into the ice caves, called moulins, of the French Alps and in those of the vast Greenland ice sheet. Luc Moreau, glaciologist, has specialized in the study of glaciers movements. He has developed time-lapse systems to observe the advance of glaciers, and studies hydrology, meaning the flow of melt water in the ice caves.
This film is the story of the reunion, after more than 20 years, of Serge and Luc in the Alps and in the extreme caves of Greenland.
