Yet the history of the “Gulags” remains largely unacknowledged and undocumented until today.

From Moscow to the extreme borders of Eastern Siberia, the film takes an in-depth look at one of the most brutal penitentiary systems of the twentieth century which left a profound scar in the Russian nation.

Directed by talented filmmaker Michaël Prazan, this story is led by the granddaughter of a prisoner, Assia, and intertwines archive material and unique testimonies of ex-detainees. So, their voices are not to be forgotten.
