FRANÇOISE DORLÉAC

Elder sister of Catherine Deneuve, and daughter of actors Maurice Dorléac and Renée Simonot, Françoise Dorléac naturally embarked on an acting career, making her film debut in 1959 in Les Loups dans la bergerie. Her engaging personality and ambition set her apart. In Philippe de Broca's That an from Rio, she co-starred with Jean-Paul Belmondo, before shooting The Soft Skin with François Truffaut. An exceptional director of actors, Truffaut filmed her like no one before him. Truffaut's film was a commercial flop, but her presence in Cannes brought the actress international recognition.

The film, narrated by Catherine Deneuve, retraces Françoise Dorléac's career, using archive footage of the young actress and interviews with writers, actors, directors and former technicians on the sets of the films that made her famous.
