Becoming a Shepherd

Lucas, Agathe and Ousmane want to become shepherds. But first, they have to train at the Merle Training Center, in the South of France.

 

During one year, we will follow them as they discover this ancient profession and learn the techniques and know-how of this extraordinary cultural heritage. Together, they will learn the gestures of shepherds and the rhythm of the herds during the different trainings of the year. Until the long-awaited mountain pasture, where the experience of solitude and the responsibility of the herd will complete their training and their metamorphosis.

 

Through intimate images, we become witnesses of their daily life. This film proposes the discovery of a difficult and profoundly human profession against the backdrop of a youth in search of a meaningful rural life.
