BECOMING A MARINE

On the military port of Toulon, five young students from the French Navy are about to embark on the Mistral helicopter carrier, to conduct the Jeanne d’Arc mission. At the end of this initiatory journey, they could don the officer’s uniform.

With different backgrounds and career paths, Lisa, Morgane, Yahmed, Yohan and Alexandre all share the same aspiration: to protect France’s maritime space. During the five months of the mission, they will discover the reality of their future profession, as close as possible to the theater of operations. If they are to become officers, they will have to prove themselves in life-size exercises.

Through an exclusive immersion aboard the Mistral, we’ll follow the trajectory of these five officer cadets. At the crossroads of societal and geopolitical issues, the Jeanne d’Arc mission is also a reflection of a changing world and an evolving institution.
