In the early 2000s, Salcuta Filan and her two children – Gabi and Denisa – left Romania to come and live in France. The family first lived in a caravan, on a camp in Parisian suburas which was soon dismantled by the police… For 15 years, Valérie Mitteaux and Anna Pitoun have followed Salcuta on her path towards integration.
The young Romanian woman has to face the intricacies of French administration, the difficulties of French language, the stigmatizing political discourse, the prejudices of others… But she never surrenders. With her uncommon energy and the help of local men and women, Salcuta will find her new home at 8, Lenin Avenue.
In this four-handed documentary, the directors paint a moving family and social fresco that gives a voice to an under-represented community, while denouncing the anti-Roma attitude that persists within Europe.
